Located between the high valleys of Maurienne in the south, and Tarentaise, in the north, the oldest French national park (created on July 6, 1963) is known as one of the most beautiful in the world. It covers 2/3 of the territory of Val d'Isère.

Vanoise Park is the first national park created in France. Since 1963, the Vanoise park has therefore been a leader.

National parks are spaces with exceptional territories. They are also recognized for their landscapes and their diversity.

The territory of Vanoise contains a unique flora and fauna. While walking on its paths you can try to spot some of the local wildlife all unique to this area. The Marmot, Marten, Eagle Owl, chamois, ibex and the magnificent golden eagle. The rarest but if seen will provide lasting memory is the bearded vulture. Almost on the brink of extinction, this bird has recently been reintroduced the the French Alps and they are making a gradual comeback. With a wingspan of up to 9ft, this giant is one that you will not forget .

The national park welcomes you to enjoy many activities, hiking and visiting refuges are the most popular but throughout the year there is often film screenings for you to enjoy under the stars .

Whether you are hikers, eco-tourists or simply on holiday, many accommodations open their doors to you in Vanoise.

Spending a night in a refuge or a gite will allow you to share good moments with the hosts. They know the area very well and will be able to provide some traditional savoyard charm, while sharing their encounters with their guests .
